2007 Volkswagen Jetta Wolfsburg Get Engine Cover Off
The 2007 Volkswagen Jetta Wolfsburg Edition is essentially a more feature-packed version of the 2.5 trim level. The 2007 Wolfsburg edition includes several features optional or unavailable on the 2.5, including: power moonroof, heated front seats, rear seat center armrest and alloy rims. The 2007 Jetta Wolfsburg does, however, share the 150-horsepower, 2.5-liter in-line five-cylinder engine with its 2.5 counterpart. This 2.5-liter engine includes a large cover over the top of it that also houses the engine air filtration system. The series of tubes and hoses running to it makes this seem like a maze to some owners, but removing it is actually a fairly simple process.

- Disconnect the mass airflow sensor’s wiring harness, the wiring harness plugged into the component attached to the intake pipe on the driver’s side of the engine cover, by holding its unlocking button and pulling upward.
- Squeeze and hold the ears together on the hose clamp on the end of the hose connecting to the MAF sensor’s tube, using slip-joint pliers. Pull the tube from the MAF sensor tube.
- Trace the curved hose from the front, driver’s side of the engine cover toward the front of the engine until you reach the point where the hose connects to an air inlet duct. Remove the two screws securing the hose to this duct, using a ratchet and socket. Pull the hose from the duct.
- Pull upward sharply on the two front corners of the engine cover to disengage the front retaining clips. Pull upward sharply on the rear, passenger’s side of the cover, then the rear, driver’s side to release the remaining clips.
- Maneuver the engine cover from the engine compartment carefully. Notice that the air filter housing, its hoses and tubes are integral components with the engine cover.
- Guide the engine cover back onto the top of the engine, making certain that all of the air intake hoses are free of sharp bends and kinks.
- Align the four grommets on the bottom of the engine cover with their retaining pins on the top of the engine.
- Engage the rear retaining pins by pressing downward firmly on the rear, driver’s side of the cover, then on the rear, passenger side of the cover. Press downward firmly on both front corners of the cover to lock the front pins in place.
- Plug the curved hose on the front, driver’s side of the engine cover into the air inlet duct on the front of the vehicle. Tighten the retaining screws to 13 inch-pounds with an inch-pound torque wrench and socket to secure the connection between the hose and the inlet duct.
- Squeeze the ears on the flexible hose’s clamp together with slip-joint pliers and slide the flexible hose onto the MAF sensor tube. Release the clamp to secure the hose on the MAF tube. Plug the MAF sensor’s wiring harness into the MAF sensor’s receptacle.
